NuVal

NuVal, our client, presented us with a unique challenge: create the icon for a nutritional scoring system that rates food products on a scale of 1 to 100, with higher numbers indicating better nutrition.

They needed a simple icon that could convey the science behind the concept and display the nutrition score numbers within a lock-up. It needed to be versatile and suitable for various in-store applications.

Three designers created the icons separately. The winning icon was a simple double hexagon: one hexagon contained the NuVal name, while the other displayed the number.

We applied the 99 nutrition scores to the winning icon and sent files to the printer.

Our headline “Knowledge is Nutritious” was combined with a visual of a food package nutrition label funneling into the nutrition score icon. The result was instant communication of the system.
